3C4AI pursues a set of ambitious objectives that together establish a trusted, interoperable, and efficient platform for distributed AI services across the cloud–edge–HPC continuum. The project combines advanced orchestration, intelligent automation, federated data management, hardware-aware resource optimisation, and secure governance to enable seamless deployment and operation of AI services across multiple infrastructures and domains. These objectives are validated through real-world use cases and contribute to European standardisation and the wider adoption of trustworthy AI technologies.

The detailed objectives are:

  1. Establish a Trusted and Secure Multi-Domain Collaboration and Decentralized Framework, enabling the domain secure onboarding, trust, interconnection, and governance of distributed resources, services and datasets across IoT-to-edge-to-Cloud-HPC continuum.
  2. Implement a unified orchestration platform for distributed AI workloads, supporting diverse types of federated resources, services and data orchestrators across multi-domain and multi-provider (-operator) compute continuum, based on specific standardisation actions and platforms.
  3. Develop cognitive engines for the intelligent optimization of Distributed AI/GenAI Workloads in terms of scheduling, agent deployment, data space connectivity and runtime adaptation.
  4. Implement a Distributed Data Orchestration Framework that addresses Data Management Challenges across Federated and Heterogeneous domains.
  5. Create and Expose Advanced APIs and a Generative AI-Enhanced Portal and Tools for Simplified AI Workload Management.
  6. Develop a Hardware Abstraction Layer for Accelerated AI Processing.
  7. Validate and Demonstrate the Platform in Real-World, Cross-Sector Scenarios.
  8. Maximise the Impact and Ensure Sustainable Adoption of the 3C4AI Framework, through Strategic Standardization, Open-Source Community Building, and Targeted Exploitation Actions
